Walking Benefits For You
Walking for exercise is a most inexpensive activity, and it is also the most beneficial form of exercise for your body and mind. Your feet were made for walking, with the only requirement being that you power them up and get pedaling on a disciplined walking program of at least 3 miles each day. Walking is an energy booster and an exhilarating experience once you have begun this refreshing form of physical exercise.
Spoiled by the modern comforts of travel by automobile, distances that can easily be reached on foot have been transformed into unnecessary automobile trips. A long time ago, the mode of transportation was by foot, and people were happier and lived longer lives then.
The couch potato syndrome has grown in leaps and bounds, evidenced by the increasing number of people who are overweight, with the status of obesity claiming lives through associated illnesses such as high blood pressure and stroke.
Obesity threatens adult populations who spend hours on living room/drawing room couches. Exercise using their feet is limited to a fast dash for the refrigerator at television commercial break to grab an item of food, not always a healthy choice of food, and then rushing back to sink into the couch for another couple of hours, deep in the couch.
Children who in the past played outside after evening dinner or supper now look forward to their time on the couch before a television set too. Playtime has been reduced, but children need to play, which aids the development of their muscles and joints.
Walk with your family to a neighborhood park. People haul around huge carrying bags for practically no reason at all. Pack a carrying bag or two, and grab a blanket. Head for a family picnic in the park with the kids in tow. Walking to a picnic is a novelty that delights young children.
Back in the day, or in the olden days, Grandma and Grandpa walked with their grandchildren to a nearby park for a picnic celebration. Children loved this event, especially with the sweet smell of home-cooked food rising from the baskets they carried.
Walking improves self-esteem and, if you love nature, this is the perfect activity to pursue in a pleasant and pastoral setting. As you power those legs and feet, there is a community of small animals, such as rabbits and squirrels, scuttling about in their hunt for food. They are regulars wherever large trees and shrubbery exist. You will see these busy creatures every day. Songbirds dressed in brilliant-colored feathers serenade you from their high perches in tall oaks as you circle around the walking track. The creature activity will uplift your spirit.
Social benefits of walking are evidenced by your positive mood changes as you walk. Smile and wave to people you cross paths with. Walkers exchange warm greetings and get to know each other soon. Some people engage in lively banter while powering their way around the walking track.
Contribute to clean air standards by leaving your car at home more often. Walking Benefits clean air. Vehicle emissions are a cause for concern since emissions increase air pollution.
Consider the many benefits of walking listed below:
- Increases muscle strength.
- Strengthens the heart while staving off heart disease.
- Keeps blood circulation in check.
- Gives a positive boost for symptoms of despair.
- Powers up respiration.
- Wipes out lower back pain.
- Reduces hypertension and infection risks.
- Maintains your healthy weight.
- Bridles decrease in bone density.
- Maintains flexibility and coordination, a lack of which causes many older persons to suffer tumbling falls and related fractures.
Get to moving with a good pair of walking shoes. Pedal around the track at your own pace for your own good health. It will not cost you a red cent. Remember to bring bottled water to quench your thirst as you wish.
